Real Estate Snapshot: Last Sunday, the Fed Chaiman Powell was interviewed on 60 minutes where he stated rates would remain higher longer. This interview Sunday followed the better-than-expected jobs Report on Friday. Then on Wednesday Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari said inflation is coming down but the Fed should wait for more evidence before cutting rates. He stated that real estate markets across the county are seeing real appreciation so lower rates are not necessary for real estate industry to thrive. In Sonoma County, we still have so few homes available for sale that any new properties to market are often receiving multiple offers for over the asking price. Once our rainy weather pattern passes, we anticipate more homes will be coming on the market. Rates ended the week with Conventional around 6.5%, Jumbo around 7%, and FHA around 5.875%: all 30-year fixed, owner occupied with zero points.
